Which TenPoint crossbow should I look at first?
It depends on how you carry and shoot. The Turbo X is the most-searched forward-draw model and the one most owners compare everything else against. The Venom X is the lighter, narrower alternative for hunters who hike in and hold for a long time. What does the number in a TenPoint model name mean?
For most current TenPoint and Wicked Ridge bows the number is the advertised speed in feet per second with the arrow the bow is tuned around - the Stealth 450 is rated 450 FPS, the Flatline 460 is rated 460 FPS, the Commander 400 is rated 400 FPS. It is a useful shorthand for where a model sits in the lineup, but speed is only one factor: weight, width, cocking system and scope matter just as much for how the bow actually hunts.
What is the difference between ACUdraw, ACUslide and ACUdraw De-Cock?
They are TenPoint's cocking systems. ACUdraw and ACUdraw Pro are integrated crank devices that reduce the effort of cocking. ACUslide is the newer cock-and-de-cock system built into models like the Turbo X and Venom X, and its main advantage is that it lets you safely de-cock the bow without firing a bolt. ACUdraw De-Cock brings that de-cock ability to more of the lineup. If de-cocking without shooting matters to you, look for ACUslide or a De-Cock model.
How do I de-cock a TenPoint crossbow?
On a bow with ACUslide or ACUdraw De-Cock you crank the system in the de-cock direction, which lets the string down under control - no bolt fired, no separate discharge target needed. What length and weight arrow does a TenPoint take?
TenPoint's current forward-draw bows are built around a 20-inch carbon arrow, and the factory packages ship with Pro Elite 400 arrows tuned for the bow. Some compact models and the Wicked Ridge line use shorter arrows. Always match arrow length, total grain weight and nock type to what your specific model calls for - the nock in particular is a safety item, because an arrow that does not seat against the string is how a dry-fire happens.
Can I use any scope on a TenPoint crossbow?
Most current TenPoint bows ship as a package with a scope already matched to the bow's speed - a RangeMaster, a Pro-View 400, or a rangefinding option like the Vision HD, EVO-X Marksman, Burris Oracle X or Garmin Xero. How far can a TenPoint crossbow shoot accurately?
